As the countdown to the first episode of Legend of the Seeker ticks by, the show's creators, Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert have kicked their marketing into overdrive with a series of interviews.

This time, the duo gave an interview to SCI FI Wire, at www.scifi.com

In it, they discuss what drew them to the series, as well as differences between Seeker's leading lady, Kahlan and the titular character and heroine to their last syndicated hit, Xena: Warrior Princess.

“Kahlan is very different than Xena. Kahlan is drawn from the great book that Terry Goodkind wrote; Wizard's First Rule was the first one. And Sam and I fell in love with this character. And she's a female action hero for 2009, so she has a different complexity, a different secret, a different reason for doing what she does. And yes, she's perhaps more feminine at the same time as being as ruthless as Xena was,” Tapert said.

In the interview they also discussed the actress who plays Kahlan, Bridget Regan.  Topics included what she brings to her portrayal as well as what aspects of the book that audiences will love seeing brought to the screen.

Finally, they discussed which favorites from Xena would be appearing in Seeker.

The New York Times has also written an article concerning the new series.

The article talks about the landscape of syndication, and how it has changed since Raimi and Tapert originally created the genre of fantasy action drama.

In the article, Terry Goodkind also speaks on the reasons why he sold the series' rights to Raimi and Tapert.

"The character of Richard is given the sword in my first book because he is a person of integrity and will always try his best,” Mr. Goodkind said in the New York Times interview. “I decided that’s all I could do here with Sam and Rob.”
