View all articles by Stephanie DubeThe rumor mill is pretty active lately with news about a potential “companion TV series” to ABC’s ever popular Lost.
The series, Flash Forward, would be based on the novel of the same name by Robert J. Sawyer. According to an article on Hollywood Reporter, this new series would chronicle “the chaos that ensues after everyone in the world blacks out for 2 minutes, 17 seconds and has a mysterious vision of the future that changes lives forever.”
The spec script for the series was written by David S. Goyer and Brannon Braga, of Star Trek fame. For fans, this could be an advantage or a detriment. Braga’s last Star Trek series franchise, Enterprise, was the subject of intense debate among Trek fans.
Braga co-wrote the finale episode for Star Trek: Enterprise, “These are the Voyages.” The episode, which Braga described as a “valentine to Star Trek fans,” was viewed more like a bad April Fool’s joke. On IMDB.com, the episode has the lowest rating of all the shows in the series.
So will Braga find redemption in this new series?
Details are sketchy thus far. It appears the show will be touted as a companion piece to Lost, but it will not actually be related to the Lost universe.
No word yet on when or if the series will actually air.
