This week on Guiding Light, several characters received help from their friends. Some was needed and appreciated; others, well...

Looks like Olivia's having heart problems again. She had trouble with her new job at Galaxy, and Natalia saved the day. I like the chemistry between these two actresses. Olivia seems more human, as does Natalia, who isn't coming off as an aloof religious freak. Their interaction makes the show more interesting, unlike a bunch of catfights more typical in daytime, which actually gets boring after awhile.

Mallet helped Marina realize her dream of owning a home by offering to buy Harley's house. Although a grand gesture, it isn't realistic in this housing market.

Guiding Light is trying to pass itself off as a realistic show, in my opinion, and misses the mark here. How can he do that on a policeman's salary? And how about his debt problems after exwife's Dina's brain surgery? I can't see a bank lending him money.

Speaking of Dina, she received unwelcome help when Grady kidnapped Lizzie and stashed her in the basement of the radio station. Is he just eye candy? What a stupid move! And I don't think it will help Dina in the long run. I mean, Bill got all the credit and doesn't need his sister now. This storyline isn't even entertaining anymore. It's sad. Where's Reva when you need her? She was on the air earlier this week and then just vanished.

I like the fast-paced storytelling. I just wish it was different storytelling. Well, there's always next week.
