Hurray! The best show that hasn't been canceled yet is back! But is it still as weird as your uncle that collects Depression era socks?

First, a Moment of Silence:

Yes, it's back. Finally. Pushing Daisies -- the show aimed directly at .0005 percent of the American population -- has returned. And this time, with more bees.

So What Happened This Week?

Emerson Cod made a pop up mystery book called Lil Gumshoe; Olive went to a nunnery, a pig joined the cast, and Ned and Chuck went all Parisian in their living arrangements. Oh, and a woman was stung to death by bees. There were a lot of bees in this episode. They really should have mentioned that in the episode title.

And the Mystery This Week Was ...?

A woman called Kentucky Fitz was stung to death by bees. Before her death, she worked as a Bee Girl at a honey based company called  Betty's Bees. Again with all the bees!

How Many People Did Ned Bring Back To Life This Week?

One woman, and about a thousand bees. This was achieved by Chuck pouring their dead bodies on him. Sounds ghastly, but it was rather beatific. Or is that bee-tific?

Probably not.

What Proof Did We See This Week That Pushing Dasies Takes Place in an Alternate Universe?

Well, there is the fact that Emerson and Ned use a small reel to reel tape recorder to record Chuck's undercover foray into Betty's Bees. Sure, perhaps he chooses not to use something more high tech, but that's doubtful. This may be the top of the line in this universe, which means all spies must have these things taped into their jackets. Which would explain why so many people in this world wear big, bulky jackets.

There is also apparently no caller ID on any phones, since Ned is able to call the Happy Time Temp Agency and cancel a request for service for Betty's Bees. Or any need for identification when working for a temp agency, since Ned swans into Betty's Bees and takes over a secretarial job just like that.

Betty's house is able to be turned into a giant beehive, and nobody notices.

What Was With That Massive Recap of the Show at the Beginning of the Episode?

An obvious attempt to educate those just tuning in, curious to see what the hub bub was all about. Sadly, most of those people probably switched off halfway through the recap, muttering ' Too weird for me!'

You Mentioned a Pig.

Yes, I did. His name is Pigby, and he lives in the nunnery with Olive.

Best Lines.

I sweated over this one. Was it Olive's line about being 'truth buckshot?' Was it Ned rhyming about 'dropping eaves'? Was it the cheerful way Olive says "Hiya Pigby!"  No, it had to be this exchange:

Chuck: What if he was made entirely out of bees and that's why she couldn't see his face because he didn't even have one? What if there's a whole beefolk society who walk around shaped like people?

Ned:
You're thinking about how you can train your bees to walk around in people shapes, aren't you?

Chuck: (smiling): Yeah.

Any Major Plot Happenings?

Well, Olive is now in a nunnery because of her feelings for Ned and because she is burdened with the knowledge that Lily is Chuck's mother. She gets even more burdened when Lily reveals that the father was her sister's fiancee. Lily is big on the reveals.

Ned manages to retrieve all of Chuck's books and her favorite pillow from her aunts' home, which makes Chuck all happy-like.

The narrator also lets us know that Emerson's pop up book is a how-to book for Emerson's possible child to come and find him.

Oh, and it looks like Ned's father has entered the Pie Hole, mysterious fedora and all.

So, on a Rating of 1 to 10, How Happy Are You To Have Pushing Daisies Back?

There are no numbers in this universe that go that high--I'd have to go with smells.

It would probably be best expressed in the smell of a freshly baked cherry pie mixed with  the aroma of black coffee. Which as anyone knows, is heaven.
