While "Life" will still struggle to find an audience this season at 10 P.M. on Fridays, a historically low-rated time slot, it will get to enjoy a couple weeks in familiar territory as well.  NBC has given the police drama a boost coming out of the gate, airing the season premiere on Monday, September 29th, after the second episode of "Heroes".  It will be the first of four brand-new episodes being broadcast in the weeks of September 29th and October 6th.  Episodes Two and Four will air in the regular Friday night time slot, while Episode Three will also be airing after "Heroes" on October 6th.

This is the second time that NBC has aired new episodes of "Life" in the Monday 10 P.M. slot.

The next-to-last episode of Season One, the first part of the "Dig it Up, Fill it In" two-parter, aired on December 3, 2007, two days before the (strike-shortened) season finale in its old time on Wednesdays.  Clearly NBC is not simply aiming at the wider "Heroes" fan base in general, but specifically targeting those "Heroes" viewers who tuned in last December but may have forgotten a show they watched once ten months ago.  It also suggests that NBC is trying to make up for burying "Life" on Fridays with this aggressive opening push.

For those fans who can't wait another day, Episode One will be available on Hulu.com starting Monday, September 22nd.  Or you can go to NBC's official "Life" website and see brand-new content, including an upgraded "Conspiracy Wall".

And you can check back here this week for a refresher course on where "Life" was at before the writer's strike, and what's been promised for Season Two.
