"Ghostbusters 3" is officially a go, and it's possible that no one is more surprised than Bill Murray.  When we last checked in with Dan Aykroyd, he said the major holdup on any planned sequel would be because of Murray's reluctance to get involved.  Now Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg, better known as the writer-producing team that makes The Office great, have been tapped to work on the third installment of the movie franchise.
The new writers have an in with the gang: they cowrote the upcoming comedy "Year One" with veteran ghostbuster Harold Ramis.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, some members from the original cast "might be involved" but that the focus would be on a new ghostbusting team.  However, according to Variety, the new script is "designed" to reunite the team.  Aykroyd's previous comments suggested a third film would be CGI-only, in order to deal with the aging of the main cast.
