Yesterday, in an extremely slow news cycle, the Telegraph claimed that an insider had let them know Cher was "in talks" to play Catwoman in the next Batman film.  Following the pattern of slow news days, the rumor hit the Web with a vengeance, sparked by a quote for a so-called studio executive: "Cher is Nolan's first choice to play Catwoman. He wants to her to portray her like a vamp in her twilight years.  The new Catwoman will be the absolute opposite of Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry's purring creations."

Fortunately, some intrepid folks over at Geeks of Doom called Warner Brothers to get the direct word.  That word?  "Those casting rumors are untrue."  So stop your panicking (or put away the champagne, whichever) and hold on for the real casting to come out.
