View all articles by barbara mountjoyTechCrunch, a California-based weblog that specializes in bringing new products and concepts to the forefront of the public's attention, has invited Hollywood folk including Joss Whedon and Stan Rogow to its September conference, TechCrunch50, as part of a panel on creating content exclusively for the Web.
Whedon, best known for his television series Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly, has recently produced a musical released as first-run content on the Internet called "Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.
Rogow has a host of television and film credits as a producer, including the post-Apocalyptic “Afterworld,” Electric Farm Entertainment’s Webby-nominated epic about a man trapped in a world without technology.
Other panel members will include the president of Alloy Entertainment, the company that has produced the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movies, Leslie Morganstein, writer-producer Chris Henchy of funnyordie.com, providing comedy videos on the Web, and Michael Yanover of Creative Arts Agency, a group that helps the creators of startup Websites like funnyordie.com get their ideas packaged and out there for the masses to enjoy.
TechCrunch50 will launch 50 new companies at its conference in San Francisco September 8-10, as well as providing attendees with up-to-date support and information for Internet entities in the years to come.
