In an agreement which will lead to DVD releases of several popular shows, Lionsgate Entertainment has signed a new distribution deal with Disney/ABC.
The first series on the schedule is According To Jim: Season One (starring Jim Belushi), with a release date of October 21st, 2008. It will shortly be followed by Reaper: Season One scheduled for November 4th, 2008. Other shows (release dates not listed) include Hope & Faith (Kelly Ripa, Faith Ford), 8 Simple Rules...
for Dating My Teenage Daughter (John Ritter, Katey Sagal), Boy Meets World (Ben Savage, Rider Strong), October Road (Tom Berenger, Bryan Greenberg), Kevin Hill (Taye Diggs), My Wife & Kids (Damon Wayans), Six Degrees (Jay Hernandez, Bridget Moynahan, Erika Christensen), and more.
Ron Schwartz, General Manager and Executive Vice President of Lionsgate stated, "As evidenced by our recent activity, we continue to look for key brands to expand and grow our TV on DVD business. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to add these popular ABC Studios series to our library and look forward to releasing these highly recognizable, branded properties to their loyal audiences on DVD."
Lionsgate has also recently signed deals for series which include the reality show Sunset Tan plus the popular Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Snoop Dogg's Father Hood, and Kimora: Life In The Fab Lane. They have also recently released the third season of Weeds, the first season of the award-winning AMC series Mad Men and Tyler Perry's House of Payne: Volume 2.
