Long-Awaited Spinoff Finally Coming in Comic Form
In a 'squee' heard 'round the world, Gargoyles co-creator Greg Weisman announced at WonderCon that Gargoyles: Bad Guys is a go. The mini will be a six-issue bimonthly B&W series, written by Weisman with art by Karine Charlebois and tones by Stephanie Lostimolo. Covers will be by Greg Guler. The new book is looking at an October release.

Bad Guys was originally intended to be an animated spinoff from the Gargoyles animated series. The new series focused on five former adversaries of the Wyvern clan and their work for a shady quasi-goverment agency as they found personal redemption. Think "The Dirty Dozen," only with Jim Belushi. Sadly, the series never got past the leica reel stage (shown at the annual Gathering). However, with the success of the new Gargoyles comic, the spinoff has a breand new shot at life. If it sells, then Gargoyles: Pendragon is next in line, followed by Gargoyles: Timedancer. Longtime fans are already drooling. For those new to the fandom, Pendragon follows the adventures of King Arthur in the modern world, while Timedancer is the story of a gargoyle lost in time who finds himself along his journey.

The other good news is that the main book is also still in production, though Issue #3 is sitting on someone's desk at Disney awaiting approval. Clear skies are here, and now we're just waiting on that first updraft.
