Crystal is a 30-something writer living in Northern California. She divides her time between writing technical documentation (techy, tech, tech requirements docs), analytical essays on television shows that hold her brain for ransom, and the occasional bout of fiction (like plague, only with characters). She enjoys Pinot Noir, but not during robot apocalypses, and feels all movies could be made better if they had a Sleestack in the background.

Josh Friedman moderated the panel of actors and writers, which included: Shirley Manson (Catherine Weaver), Richard T. Jones (Agent Ellison), Garret Dillahunt (Cromartie), Brian Austin Green (Derek Reese), Summer Glau (Cameron), Lena Headey (Sarah Connor), Thomas Dekker (John Connor), James Middleton (Consulting Producer), and John Wirth (Writer).
There was a good mix of questions, which allowed all of the cast and writers to touch on various aspects of the show.
***Spoiler****
The big spoiler for the panel came from John Wirth, who revealed that one of the characters will die this season. This came as a surprise to both the audience and the actors, who immediately began to speculate on who will be getting Terminated.
In additional spoilers, John Wirth and James Middleton revealed that while Skynet would be coming together, there would be cracks in the family relationship between Sarah and John Connor. This will have a powerful impact on Sarah.
Lena Headly said that she already missed working so closely Thomas Dekker. Since they are only two episodes into filming, cracks won’t take long to develop.
***end Spoiler***
On a lighter note, Lena Headly, when asked about what Sarah Connor would do if she ever got a day off, responded that she'd buy Reese some valium and would track down Agent Ellison for a night in, which got a positive response from the fan audience.
Thomas Dekker discussed some of the changes that John Connor would be going through next year.
Summer Glau discussed the physicality of how her character moves. She focuses on stripping away all instinctive movement and makes each step or gesture a conscious decision, as it would be for a machine.
As questioning passed to Garett Dillahunt for how he plays his very different Terminator, he said that just as cars have different personalities so could Terminators. With Cromartie having been through so much physical trauma, he felt there was plenty of space for quirks to creep into the programming.
Richard T. Jones discussed how pleased he was when Joss Friedman approached him and discussed making Agent Ellison a spiritual character. As Jones is himself a Christian, he has enjoyed talking about Bible verses for use in episodes with the writers.
Shirley Manson went into the differences between singing and acting. As a singer, she can follow her gut on stage. As a member of a cast, she must pay constant attention to everything that is going on around her.
Brian Austin Green described Derek's biggest task as surviving a present that he hardly remembers. He went into some detail about the significance for him, as an actor, playing the scene with John Connor in the park and seeing the younger versions of the Reese brothers. He sees Derek as fighting for those two kids in the park, so that they’ll never experience what Derek has seen. He also thanked the fans who first hated his casting, but now have embraced his character.
Sentiments that were repeated by John Wirth, who thanked the fans.
Regarding continuity with Terminator: Salvation, Josh Friedman said that he has spoken generally to McGee, regarding the movie, but the movie and series will explore very different timelines.
T:tSCC will start its second season on Fox Monday, August 25th.
Also as a personal suggestion to fans, if you want to go to San Diego Comi-con, buy your tickets now. I’ve got my four day pass.
