Comic-Con cannot possibly be complete these two making the scene. This year at the July 24-27 convention Yoshitaka Amano, illustrator of the Vampire Hunter D series and many other works including Final Fantasy, will be signing autographs during the convention. He will also be promoting his newest work, Mateki: The Magic Flute. Another big name coming to the big con is manga-ka Yasuhiro Nightow, creator of the Trigun manga. Right now the Trigun Movie is in the works so those lucky enough to go to his signings might be able to ask a few questions from the creator himself. Besides Trigun he has also done the Gungrave series.
Both of their signings are ticketed events so you have to be quick to get a chance at meeting the two.
After Comic-Con Amano will be making another appearance, this time on the east coast, at the New York Anime Festival in New York City on September 26-28. Ten lucky fans will also be able to celebrate Hideyuki Kikuchi’s birthday along with Amano and Kevin Leahy, the translator of the Vampire Hunter D series. The ten fans will have to pay $125 in order to join the three as they eat and drink in Midtown Manhattan on September 28 after the convention.
