All right, everyone, we've heard all the actor announcements we're going to get, for Ouran High School Host Club, until FUNimation makes the final complete reveal at Anime Expo next Friday, July 4.
Last week, it was Aaron Dismuke and Brittney Karbowski. And this week, we've been told about Christopher Sabat and R. Bruce Elliot.
While Aaron Dismuke has in fact appeared in several different anime series, he's probably best known as the voice of the beloved Alphonse Elric in Fullmetal Alchemist. In the new series, he will play Yasuchika "Chika" Haninozuka, who intensely dislikes the Host Club's "decadent" lifestyle which his sister, Honey, accepts.
Brittney Karbowski has been very active voicing for ADV Films, in series such as Le Chevalier D'Eon (in which she played D'Eon's fiancée, Anna), Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok (where she portrayed Freya's alter ego, Reiya Ohshima), and more recently Kanon (playing Ayu Tsukimiya). Now she has joined FUNimation, and plays Hinako Tsuwabuki on Host Club. Hinako is one of the young ladies of the St.
Lobelia Academy Zuka Club that seeks dominion in the battle of the sexes.
Christopher Sabat has both directed and voiced characters in the Dragon Ball Z series, among many other anime shows, cartoons, and games (700 episodes all told). You might have heard him as both Vegeta and Piccolo in Dragon Ball Z, Alex Louis Armstrong in Fullmetal Alchemist, or Kikichio in Samurai 7. In Ouran High School Host Club, he'll portray Ritsu Kasanoda, whom FUNimation describes as "a misunderstood heir to a mafia empire," wanting the Host Club to help him soften his image.
R. Bruce Elliot plays Kasanoda's mafia father, who is trying to mold his son to take over the crime business. Elliot has a long acting history, in both stage plays and musicals, several movies, commercials, and in recent years, in anime. He portrayed Detective Richard Moore in Case Closed, as well as the leader of the Samurai Seven, Kambei.
With FUNimation's weekly two-name tease over the last month or so, we've already collected quite a cast of excellent actors. It's hard to believe there can still be more to come, but the final major announcement will be made next Friday, live, at Anime Expo in Los Angeles. And in fact, the company is very specific about the exact time: 11:30 a.m. Pacific. That's when the entire cast will finally be known, and we can anticipate the release of the series. As FUNimation says in its news release, "Be there."
