New York Anime Festival Programming Director Peter Tatara announced during AnimeNEXT this past weekend that NYAF will be hosting the character designer of Vampire Hunter D Yoshitaka Amano during this year’s convention. Last month Dark Horse Comics announced that they would be hosting the creator of Vampire Hunter D Hideyuki Kikuchi to NYAF during its September 26-28 convention. Dark Horse is also bringing Kevin Leahy, the translator for the VHD novel, to the convention.

In addition to D, Amano has designed characters on animes such as Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, Time Bokan, the Kaito Lupin 813 no Nazo Special, and Shinzo Ningen Casshan. He was also an illustrator for "The Sandman: The Dream Hunters by Neil Gaiman" and did character designs Final Fantasy II and III and Image Designer/Illustrator for Final Fantasy V through X-2. He also did the cover art for Robotech: Invasion and the original character design for Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles.

It seems as if NYAF is collecting people who worked on the Vampire Hunter D franchise. There are still three months left until September. Who will be next?
