Monday night, Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) brought thirty-five articles of impeachment against President George W. Bush before Congress.  The resolution took five hours to read in full, and is being reread this evening on C-SPAN by the House Clerk due to insistence by Republican members of Congress.  While this historic moment has been ignored by the major media outlets such as CNN, MSNBC and Fox News, the blogophere has exploded with elation from the left side of the aisle and attacks on the messenger from the right.  Comments have ranged from "What took him so long?" to "Thank God," and from "It's too late in his term to do any good," to "Did you hear Kucinich believes in UFOs?"  Notably, very few on either side have read through the entire text of the resolution or listened to it live yesterday to discover what evidence Rep. Kucinich presented with the charges.

No matter what corner of the political stage you occupy, if you are a U.S. citizen or resident alien, it is in your best interests and in the best interests of this country to look closer into these charges.  If they are true, the criminals who have perpetrated these actions must be brought to justice.  If they are false, then the rumors of lying, conspiring, and abetting rapists and torturers will not plague President Bush forever after he has left office.  Burying it will either a) taint Bush's legacy as his political opponents scream "Coverup!" or b) allow a mass murderer to walk free with a comfy pension and government-paid health care.  Bring the truth out into the light and let all of America, all of the world, see what that truth is.  It's the only way to know what really happened, and it's the only way we as a country will be able to move past these dark times.

How you can help:

1. Contact your representative in Congress.  Do it tonight.  If you don't know who represents you, do a search.  Call the Washington office, call the local office, or send an email or fax, but do it as soon as you can.

2. Contact your local newspaper.  Write a letter to the editor or call the office.  Ask why news of the impeachment isn't on page one.  Do the same with your local television station.  Don't let them continue to bury the story.

3. Tell your friends.  Tell them why it's important.  Ask them to help.
