Handmade Films Intl. has teamed up with Ilion Animation Studios to produce "Planet One," a $50 million CGI movie written by Joe Stillman ('Shrek'), reports Variety. The planned release date is circa Christmas 2008, putting it up against the next Trek fiml premiere, with a possible rain date of Easter 2009. No voice actors have been cast yet.

The film's premise is a quirky science fiction staple. The antennaed, eight-fingered inhabitants of Planet One live in a 1950's-reminiscent suburbia, cowering perpetually in fear of an alien invasion, a fear which is realized when a human astronaut lands on their world.
