According to Variety, Terminator 4 will be aiming for a PG-13 rating for its May 22, 2009 release.

This might worry me if I weren't already addicted to the T.V. show, 9:00 prime time has got to be somewhere between PG and PG-13, and yet it certainly delivers on dramatic tension. The main fight scene in the finale alone was one of the most balletic battles I've seen in some years. Also, I fairly surprised to realize how deftly Iron Man (also PG-13) handled the overall violence without actually toning anything down.

The previous three movies were release with an R rating, but the family-ier friendly rating does mean that the studio can now drown us in Terminator merchandising. Mind you, if I can get a large Slushie in a Terminator head that's not all bad.

It will also be no surprise to discover that they will be releasing a Terminator game in combination with the movie. These days, I'm surprised if a big action movie comes out without having a game. The real question being if they can pull off the visuals from the movie while still delivering on the game play.

Filming began on Terminator 4 on May 4th.
