What’s your reaction when two of your greatest enemies
decide to go out on the town?
This was the first time this season that I wasn’t totally thrilled with the episode. There was something about the action in this episode and left me unsatisfied. But it didn’t hurt to throw in a lot of sub-plots.
The three’s company theme continues again. This time we bear witness to another painful transformation of a super villain. Doc Ock makes his debut. Minus the arrogance, we get a more original comics version. He was the innocent third wheel for Norman Osborn. But after that nasty scene, Ock quickly becomes the ruthless villain that demands retribution.
It is nice to see that Peter Parker is playing the field. And like any New Yorker, takes his date to Coney Island. Who’s his date? Liz Allen. Not MJ. Not Gwen. Liz Allen. I loved the bubble that is Sally Avril’s world. I conclude we do have a drug addiction arc for Harry Osborn. He just left Gwen Stacy and also raids his father’s collection for some Globulin. I still say Harry’s a red herring. That was a nice turn of character to have Flash Thompson offer to help out Spider-Man. A lot of times, Flash is the jerk and that’s it. He becomes a rather nice guy later in the comics.
I sort of groaned with Ned Leeds. We don’t need a Hobgoblin. Well, at least not until Season Three after Norman and Harry. Like any other shuttle launch, I had a feeling of insecurity. As much as I want to see Man Wolf, with only a few episodes left, Venom should be appearing anytime now. What I did like was the photos that we saw briefly. A Sinister Six team up would be rather entertaining. For us, not Spider-Man.
The Spectacular Spider-Man is winding down and the Green Goblin ain’t going nowhere. What’s Spider-Man’s reaction? Better stock up on Spider Band-Aids…
