They say clothes make the man, but perhaps in little more than a decade, clothing can do a lot more--maybe even show strangers how your heartrate accelerates, just getting to meet them.

This new BLU Jacket design by Lunar isn't in production yet, but the website indicates it may be on catwalks by 2019. The museum-exhibited BLU jacket concept, Lunar says, "explores the integration of wireless technology and flexible displays to create an ever-changing fashion accessory at the intersection of personal expression and advertising."

The promo picture demonstrates a jacket that's showing a subway map, but speculation is that the e-paper design could display other things, such as the wearer's internal workings, heart rate, respiration, for example, or perhaps you could just let people know you hadn't yet had coffee, so stay away!

Alternatively, it would be possible to play video along with the music you were listening to, or run advertising. Could you get paid to walk the streets in a jacket that said "Eat at Joe's" on the back in flashy sharp video, showing the dishes that might be served there?  Beats the heck out of the old sandwich board displays.

E-paper is a display technology that, unlike traditional computer display, which is illuminated from behind, reflects light like regular paper, so it can hold text and images better, and be changed at will.

Lunar has three offices, in California, Hong Kong and Europe, and has engineered technology that is also visually appealing enough to be shown in museums as well as utilitarian.
