Blood Ties fans are giving back, and you can help. In an effort to raise publicity for their series while making the world a better place, fans of Lifetime's Blood Ties are joining with the Lion Club to boost the Lions Recycle for Sight program. The Lions Club collects used eyeglasses, including sunglasses as well as prescription and non-prescription glasses, cleans them, and distributes the glasses to people who cannot afford them.
Spokesperson Candy Burke said, "We need everyone to donate their used eyeglasses. In most developing countries, an eye exam can cost as much as one month's wages and a single eye doctor may serve a community of hundreds of thousands of people.
"
Blood Ties, which is currently on the bubble at Lifetime, stars Christina Cox as Vicki Nelson, a private detective who suffers from retinitis pigmentosa. Tying into the themes of the series, fans have also donated blood in the show's name, as well as made donations to Best Friends Animal Society. Blood Ties fans have also bene coordinating efforts with fans of CBS vampire series Moonlight, whose fans are running a blood drive of their own.
For more information, fans can visit the donations page.
