According to
The Hollywood Reporter, Jensen Ackles, who co-stars as
Dean Winchester on The CW's hit horror drama
Supernatural, is set to
star in
My Blood Valentine 3-D, a remake of the 1981 horror film.
Patrick Lussier will direct, and
Jack Murray, John Dunning and Andre Link are producing. Production
begins May 12; the film is set to release January 23, 2009 under the
Lionsgate Films logo. Ackles' character, Tom, returns home ten years
after a massacre occurred in the town of Harmony, MO. He reunites with
his childhood sweetheart, but finds he's a suspect in a murder. The
original film was about a massacre in a Nova Scotia mining town.
Jensen Ackles' previous horror film credits include the 2005 DVD flick
Devour. He also stars in the upcoming independent film
Ten Inch Hero,
which has been gathering a following through screenings and
word-of-mouth as it seeks a distributor. He is best known for
Supernatural and his roles on the genre TV series
Dark Angel and
Smallville. For three years he played Eric Brady on the soap opera
Days
of Our Lives.
Recently it was announced that Ackles' co-star Jared Padalecki,
who plays Sam Winchester, will be starring in a remake of the horror
classic
Friday the 13th, with a February 13, 2009 release. Looks like both Winchester actors will be battling evil and taking names on the small and the big screen.
