Grant was previously offered the role of the Ninth Doctor, which eventually went to Christopher Eccleston, who is credited (along with co-star Billie Piper and showrunner Russell T Davies) with bringing the cult hit back from the grave and into mass media attention.
Grants admits he should have taken the role. "When you see it you think, 'Damn, that was good, why did I say no?'"
Eccelston fans may differ, but Grant should bring an interesting dynamic to the show, and certainly even more attention.
