Building on the buzz from 'Batman Begins' and 'Superman Returns,' Warner Bros. is looking to bring the Justice League to a movie theatre near you, accordign to Variety. Kiernan and Michele Mulroney have been tapped to pen a script for Warner, based on the long-running comic adventures of the Justice League of America.

"The Justice League of America has been a perennial favorite for generations of fans, and we believe their appeal to film audiences will be as strong and diverse as the characters themselves," Jeff Robinov said on behalf of Warner Bros.

The move is not unexpected, for fans of the iconic DC characters. On CW's Smallville, this season has seen the formation of a live-action JLA, while on the kid-verse's "The Batman," this season will end with the same.

Cartoon Network's "Justice League" / "Justice League Unlimited" finished up a five-season run in 2006, as did cousin series "Teen Titans." Sales of the comic "JLA" have been steady ever since the relaunch after DC's Infinite Crisis concluded last year. Most importantly, the recent entries into DC movieverse, "Batman Begins" and "Superman Returns," have breathed new life into the film franchises, spawning new work on planned "Winder Woman" and "Flash" features, as well as upcoming Bat-sequel "The Dark Knight." In short, the audience is primed and ready to see a well-written League on the big screen, although much is going to depend on what characters can be secured for the film and if Brandon Routh and Christian Bale will sign.

The only guarantee right now is that, if and when the cast list is announced, fans everywhere will complain loudly and long about the wrong characters being selected.
