Firefox News has just learned that 80's cult television series Beauty and the Beast is going to be revived … in comic book form. Ron Koslow (Moonlight) will be personally overseeing and writing the book, which will be published by independent publisher YHBT.

A YHBT spokesperson said, "The revitalization of the Buffy franchise by Joss Whedon's comic book Season Eight has reignited interest in many fantasy and scifi properties. Beauty and the Beast is a timeless love story that will become even more timeless now that we don't have to worry about the actors and actresses aging."

The comic series is rumored to pick up shortly after the television series ended, but with a few twists.

Koslow, in an attempt to reconcile warring factions of the fandom who have been at odds for nearly two decades, has announced a plan to make everyone happy. Beloved female lead Catherine (who was brutally murdered at the beginning of the third season) will be brought back to the land of the living, though Koslow is keeping his plans on the "how" quiet. Meanwhile, also (if not as intensely) beloved female lead Diana will not be left out of the mix.

"We believe that a new century necessitates looking at new kinds of soul-bonding," said the spokesperson. "Catherine and Diana will, over time, discover their own commonalities with each other as well as with Vincent. The threesome, and Jacob, will eventually form a strong family unit. And of course we'll advertise the hell out of the 'lesbian' angle. It works for the other comics companies, and since the old target audience doesn't read comics, we'll need to read out to male readers. That last part was off-the-record, right?"
