In an exciting move to promote their Harry Potter anime project, Studio YHBT released two new sketches. The compelling new production images depict Harry with his owl, Hedwig, and pair our hero with Draco Malfoy. Drawn in the slick, clean style that YHBT is known for, the sketches provide some tangible hints to this highly anticipated anime series.

The as-yet unnamed project, which we have been following since it was announced earlier this year, is an anime adaptation of the globally popular Harry Potter books. The adaptation is set at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, an all-male institution for the training of young wizards and follows Harry, an orphan who might be the key to saving humanity from the danger posed by the evil Voldemort. He-who-shall-not-be-named is unleashing Death Eaters, terrible monsters with an unholy magic of their own, on an unsuspecting Muggle public, and must be vanquished. With the help of their familiars, whose powers are called upon through magical cards, the young wizards must subdue the Death Eaters and train them to fight against their cruel master. Led by the benevolent headmaster Dumbledore, students collect spells which increase their strength, to aid them in the capture of Death Eaters.
Raised by his aunt and uncle as a Muggle, Harry had no idea he was a wizard until an owl brought him an invitation to Hogwarts on his eleventh birthday. Now firmly established at the school with his best friend Ron, he must contend with a new roommate. There's something very strange about the mysterious new transfer student.
Why does he insist on showering alone? And why is it that every time Harry changes into his pajamas, the geeky new boy with the bushy hair blushes? Harry, however, has other, more pressing matters to contend with. The hopes of both the wizarding and non-wizarding world are pinned on his abilities, but how can he save humanity when he can't even muster the courage to confess his feelings to his rival, Draco?
Studio YHBT is known for their yaoi-themed projects, and has provided quality depictions of alternative lifestyles in series that appeal to both teens and adults. YHBT's flagship series, Boys Punch, is a fan-favorite on both shores. The studio has strongly hinted that this theme will continue with the Harry Potter series. While yaoi is culturally acceptable in Japan, questions have been raised regarding how this will be accepted in the Western world. Studio YHBT said that studies of the Harry Potter fandom online indicate that yaoi content would be fairly well received by the majority of readers. It is, however, unknown at this time exactly how much yaoi content will be included -- but the sketch of Harry and Draco leaves us with some very open-ended questions.
A gaming card tie-in has recently been confirmed. This clarifies the studio's decision to use magic cards rather than the familiar wands. It is highly likely the first series of the collectible card game will hit the US market as soon as April 1st, 2009. The anime will premiere in Japan before then, and it is a certainty that English-language fan-subs will be available online almost immediately after the air-date. For a more legal means of acquiring the series, JESTer has already purchased North American distribution rights.
With the production moving forward and hopefully merchandising firmly in place, all we can do is sit back and wait.

I'm a huge Harry Potter fan but.....I don't really like this idea, first of all you cant change Hogwarts in to an all males school it just doesnt fit with out Hermione, Second nothing against gay people but come on i cant see many true fans getting into this.

THIS IS HORRIBLE!!!!! I cant believe JKR is agreeing to this.... the plot line is so screwed up. Magical Card? Training subdued deatth eaters? All Male Hogwarts??????? This is going to further steriotype Harry Potter and make people less interested....... I love anime... I love Dragon Ball Z and Death Note... Been a DBZ fan for over 10 years.... But if they make a Harry Potter anime that is so off from the books I feel they are just trying to get some of the money that the franchise is taking in....... JKR please dont let them do this!!!!

And this was a good joke actually, combining Anime and and HP...
Actually I would love a Harry Potter Anime...just not Yaoi and keep the wands! :) Actually, an anime of Harry Potter would be cool if it followed the books quite closely!

While I'm very sure this is an April Fool's joke, it's completely plausible. An anime studio bought the rights to "The Powerpuff Girls" and completely changed major aspects of the story (ie: the girls weren't sisters anymore, where in the original cartoon they were).
And, if they did do it, I'm sure that there'd be a girls school near there. There's always one girl in a yaoi-themed story.

You're kidding, right??
Hermione IS the geeky boy with the bushy hair that *coincidentally* doesn't wanna shower with the other boys!!! People, be smarter when you read!!! Didn't the HP books teach ya? ;) Constant vigilance! (click on the YHBT website)

I can't help but laugh (and cry internally)! This is hilarious! I have to admit that I fell for it initially, but I was like "WTF? What is studio YHBT?" It is a good thing that I looked it up! haha! This is such a great joke! This type of thing is totally believable though. After all, in Japan they do sell Harry Potter Doujinshis, which are basically mangas. Many of them do feature Harry/Draco pairings (I read the scanlations myself). It is awesome how you included pictures and a date! Anywho, I give you two thumbs up for the article; a superb job! (I would give you three but, alas, I only have two hands. T_T ) The only thing that got me really questioning its viability, though, is the fact that it will feature in the "western world." Because of copyrighting rights and the fact that JK Rowling got into a whole fiasco with hp-lexicon.org, I really doubt that Rowling (not to mention her agent) would allow such a thing since it wouldn't be canon. ("JESTer!" *snicker*)

LOL!
But I can totally imagine Harry standing there, fighting against Voldemort, with a few cards in his hands: "You'll never win! I have love and friendship!" Hilarious. :D

I LOVE ANIME and Akira Toriyama's work and I am a HUGE HP fan but come on! I've got gay friend's but theres no way in hell will a Yaoi Harry Potter anime be well recieved, I ll admit theres plenty of Yaoi HP fans but come on...moving on you cant take wand's out, its that simple (kinda like taking the ball from soccer) and Hogwarts cannot be all boys (Hermione, Ginny, Cho, Luna they need to be in there). As for this being and Aprils fool joke well wouldn's surprise but I guess we'll see wont we.

Haha. When I first heard about this on HPANA I wasn't sure if it was real or a joke. After seeing this it's pretty obvious. I love how they collaborated on this. Very cute joke, guys. The first on any of the sites to actually somewhat get me.

Personally, I want to see a HP anime or series of some kind. I want something that will include as much of the story as possible, which isn't something that the movies can do. And so they lead out some important, major events so the movies don't end up being 5 hours long (though it worked for Godfather). Whether it's slash or not (very likely not with the way people are, though I wouldn't mind if it was), I would love to see a HP anime.

personally I wouldn't mind the Harry/Draco themed HP anime.
It would be an actual dream come true.
Too bad about it being fake and all. XD
