Neil Jordan has just signed on to direct New Line's upcoming high-profile film, "Killing on Carnival Row," according to Variety. Travis Beacham penned the script, featuring humans, elves, vampires and fairies inhabiting a futuristic-yet-Victorian city. A serial killer stalks the inhabitants, leading a human detective to try and solve the case in order to clear his own name.
Arnold and Anne Kopelson will produce the film under their Kopelson Entertainment banner.

Jordan isn't new to offbeat and genre productions, having directed "Interview With the Vampire" and "The Crying Game." The Kopelsons, for their part, have produced such films as "Se7en" and "The Devil's Advocate." "Carnival," should it survive into production, should be right in the comfort zones of all involved.
