Roy Scheider, best known for his role in the "Jaws" movies, has died at the age of 75. According to a spokesperson at the Arkansas hospital where he died, the actor had been treated for multiple myeloma for some time.

Scheider was best-known for his role as Police Chief Martin Brody in the horror classic "Jaws" (and somewhat less classic "Jaws 2.")  Genre fans may remember him from his role as Captain Nathan Bridger on SeaQuest DSV, fondly known as "FishTrek," and from his role in "2010," the sequel to classic SF film "2001."

He is survived by his wife Brenda King, and three children.
