McG trails hints about Terminator 4
Crystal is a 30-something writer living in Northern California. She divides her time between writing technical documentation (techy, tech, tech requirements docs), analytical essays on television shows that hold her brain for ransom, and the occasional bout of fiction (like plague, only with characters). She enjoys Pinot Noir, but not during robot apocalypses, and feels all movies could be made better if they had a Sleestack in the background.View all articles by Crystal Carroll
"And there's guys out there like Russell Crowe and Eric Bana, bring a good physicality, they do what they do, but I don't know if they're exactly right at the end of the day. (Smiles) Josh Brolin is a very exciting actor - we'll see."
Josh Brolin has recently gained recognition for his roles in as "American Gangster" and "No Country for Old Men", but for the more middle school fans like myself there's always "Goonies."
McG, also an executive producer for CW's Supernatural, was equally cagy when addressing some of the complexities of integrating the new movie with both the other three movies and the new series Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles currently playing on Fox. When asked if the movie would take off from the timeline between T2 and T3, he responded that the movie will focus on the vision of the future briefly seen in T1 and will take place 2019, which kind of doesn't answer the question.
McG was more straight forward in talking about his desire to honor James Cameron's vision.
When asked by the interviewer about John Connor's role in the film, he responded, "John Connor's a major player in it - Christian Bale's playing that part."
McG reported that he is currently in pre-production and the script is largely completed. He's crossing his fingers for an end to the writer's strike so they can continue to punch up the script and presumably move out of pre-production and into production.
"Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins" is currently set for a summer 2009 release.
