EyeCon, a fan-friendly science fiction/fantasy/anime convention to be
held April 4-6 in Orlando, Florida, has added Jim Beaver to its list of
Supernatural guests. Jim Beaver, acclaimed for his role as Ellsworth on HBO's
Deadwood, portrays hunter Bobby Singer. Bobby was a friend of John
Winchester, before they became estranged (something the show hasn't
given us the full story on yet), and often offers help and guidance to Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen
Ackles). With his caustic wit and massive library, as well as Jim
Beaver's believable performance, Bobby is a huge hit with
Supernatural
fans.
Previously announced guests at the convention are Jared Padalecki (Sam
Winchester), Sandra McCoy (who portrayed a crossroads demon), Alona Tal
(Jo Harvelle), Samantha Ferris (Ellen Harvelle), Chad Lindberg (Ash),
and Gabriel Tigerman (Andy). The list also includes Steve Carlson, who
wrote the song "Night Time," used in the first season episode
"Provenance." The convention will feature signings and a screening of
Jensen Ackles' upcoming film
Ten Inch Hero.
(The rest of the article contains spoilers for episode 3x10, which airs Thursday, 2/7).
A while back, the fansite
Supernatural.tv pointed us to an inteview
Cult Times had
with Eric Kripke revealing that episode 3x10 would feature Jason Voorhees. Yes, that
Jason Voorhees, of Friday 13th fame. Executive producer John Shiban later confirmed that it turned out there were problems obtaining the rights. However, he implied the
character might be in there somehow. "That would be
cool," Shiban told the website
ShockTillYouDrop. "I don't think I'm giving anything away
when I
say it's an episode about dreams and the dreamscape, so you face your
nightmares. You'll have to see how we work it in."
In the latest development,
IF Magazine spoke to executive producer McG (
Charlie's Angels). McG was coy on the subject, but dropped this hint: "It’s a giant surprise in relation
[to] that, so you have to stay tuned for that. I can’t even talk about that. That show, we go to such
lengths to hold on to the mythology and be respectful of the secrets
and twists and turns. And [creator Eric] Kripke has that all figured
out and it’s going to surprise you."
Episode 3x10, titled "Dream A Little Dream of Me," involves nightmares,
and will reveal Bobby Singer's backstory and how he got into hunting.
It's also a turning point for Dean. "Right now
he's accepting that he's going to Hell and he's unwilling to
do anything to stop it," Eric Kripke said in an interview with
TV
Guide. "That changes 180 percent in Episode 10. Something big happens
to him that makes him realize he desperately
wants to live and he desperately doesn't want to go to Hell."
