Casting news from the sequel to "Batman Begins" taps Aaron Eckhart ("Thank You For Smoking") as tragic figure Harvey Dent / Two-Face, reports Variety. Eckhart joins castmates Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Heath Ledger. Morgan Freeman has not yet announced whether he will return to the franchise, and Katie Holmes has already bowed out.
This last could be a blessing in disguise, as her character Rachel was the bleeding-heart district attorney and dear friend of Bruce Wayne that Harvey Dent ought to be, given his comics origin. With Holmes' departure, a window opens for Bruce to have a new best friend. The question remains whether Eckhart will be able to fill that role and still have enough time to believably transform his character into the villainous split personality of Two-Face, especially with Batman's arch-nemesis the Joker (Ledger) in the film.
Of course, there's always room for a third movie.
