Love*Com: The Movie will be released on February 19, 2008 by Viz Media. This live-action romantic comedy is an adaptation of the Lovely Complex shojo manga by Aya Nakahara. The movie was originally released in the summer of 2006 in Japan and stars the Manzai duo (stand up comedians, think Abbott and Costello), Ema Fujisawa, and Teppei Koike. The DVD will feature English subtitles, interviews with the lead actors, the original Japanese trailers, a short film parody called “Hello Girlfriend,” and a music video by Umi Bouzu.

If you attended the New York Anime Festival, this movie might seem familiar, as it is one of the live-action films featured during the convention last year.

Lovely Complex is the story of Risa Koizumi, the tallest girl in her class. The out-of-luck-in-love girl already despairs on ever finding a guy to date who is taller than she is when she meets the shortest guy in class, Atsushi Otani. At first Risa feels humiliated being around Atsushi due to their height difference. As the series progresses her feelings for him develops and complicates things, especially when she meets a tall boy from another class during summer school.
