SciFi Channel and Parent/Sister/Cousin network NBC have announced that new episodes of "Heroes" will no longer be rebroadcasting on the cable network, according to The Boston Globe. Previously, viewers who missed the first-run episodes on Monday had a chance to catch up at 7 EST on Fridays. According to an unnamed network spokesperson, the agreement between NBC and SciFi was only for the first 13 episodes of the series.

"Heroes" is one of the few breakout hits this season, following the adventures of a handful of people with very special powers. The series got an initial bump in the ratings from NBC's experiment with online downloads, allowing viewers to preview the pilot before the official premiere. Additionally, quick rebroadcasts on SciFi allowed viewers who missed an episode to stay caught up in the soap opera. Without those rebroadcasts, computer-saavy viewers can still watch the current week's episode online at NBC's website, though it remains to be seen whether the lack of extra airtime will boost the first-run ratings.
