Dexter fans who don't have cable, rejoice!  TV Guide reports that CBS, in a desperate bid to pretend the Writers Strike isn't affecting them, are bringing the acclaimed Showtime series to primetime.  The show will air later than typical fare: 10 PM on Sunday nights.  The Eye will also be performing some surgery.  Episodes will air cut to meet broadcast standards, even in the later slot.
This isn't surprising, given the violent content of the series.  The question is, will it alienate fans of the original, or bring in squeamish newbies?  We have at least twelve episodes (the entire first season) to find out, and should the strike continue or the ratings be high enough, probably a lot more than that.  Dexter will be the first pay cable show to get the full broadcast treatment by CBS, and may open the floodgates.

Dexter stars Michael C. Hall as an unusual vigilante, a police forensics inspector who uses his personal killing urges to take revenge on criminals.  Also stars Julie Benz (Darla from the Buffyverse).
