VIZ to catch up on Naruto anime and manga

Starting in January of 2009, VIZ Media plans to post episodes of Naruto Shippuden on Naruto.com mere days after they air in Japan, and also catch up on earlier Naruto episodes. And from February through April, VIZ will also catch up on the Naruto manga, releasing eleven volumes in three months.

Bandai News Roundup: Gundam 00 on TV, and Los Angeles free blu-ray screenings

Mobile Suit Gundam 00 will premiere on the American Sci Fi Channel at 11:00 p.m. November 24 in the AniMonday time slot. And on December 14, Bandai Entertainment will hold its first "Black Sunday" at the Downtown Independent in Los Angeles, selling DVDs at huge discounts, and having free showings of two new blu-ray releases from its HONNEAMISE label.

VIZ announces Bleach and Death Note on Xbox LIVE

VIZ Media is now offering the first 41 episodes of Bleach and the full 37-episode Death Note series for download-to-own on the Xbox LIVE library. These two titles join Naruto Uncut, which has been available on the system since November of 2007.

Dragonball movie changes again

After a previous change of release date from August 15, 2008, to April 10, 2009, the Dragonball live action film is being moved again, this time only two days ahead, to April 8.

GDH/Gonzo undergoes changes

After a Board of Directors' meeting on November 10, 2008, GDH/Gonzo announces that its three former top executives will stay on in new positions now that Iwakaze Capital has taken over. In addition, the company will be restructured and its anime production for the next fiscal year reduced. Meanwhile, the gaming division, GONZO Rosso, has announced a partnership with Moli Publish, based in China.

FUNimation "officially launches" on Hulu.com

FUNimation has finished creating its official presence on Hulu.com, adding three new series to those that were already running on the site. This means it now has a branded presence on YouTube, Joost, and Hulu, and of course is running many free download-to-own episodes on its own site.

Death Note returns to Canada

The second Death Note live action film, Death Note II: The Last Name, is to follow very quickly after the showing of the first film, appearing in Canadian theaters December 3, 2008. Tickets go on sale November 7.

FUNimation: fan input on Sgt. Frog episode, new series on iTunes, and financial boost for Navarre

FUNimation sues alleged DVD counterfeit operation

Anime News Network confirms that FUNimation Entertainment is suing one individual and several affiliated websites for selling bootleg DVDs of five anime series. The defendants have allegedly been engaging in these activities since 2002.

Sojitz pullout won't affect FUNimation

Sojitz Corporation will dissolve its subsidiary, ARM, by February 2009. This will not, however, affect any of the titles FUNimation acquired through ARM when Sojitz broke its relationship with A.D. Vision earlier in the year.
